Out for a run
It's been a couple of weeks since my last run but managed to catch a quick loop around Sandbach this morning. Not the best ever run but not bad considering... 5.5 miles in 54minutes 30 seconds
I got drawn in to running to raise funds for charity and discovered it's a great way to keep in shape!
I kept a training blog in 2009 (http://davehursthouse.blogspot.com/) finding it a huge motivator to get out and do something to report on so here I am again!
I'm intending running the Abersoch 10km and the RNLI Reindeer 10km this year for 'fun'. I'll also be taking part in events to raise funds again for two charities that mean a lot to me:
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution ~ http://www.rnli.org
In September 2007 I had an accident whilst sailing my Laser Pico dinghy out at sea off Abersoch, North Wales. The Abersoch crew came to my aid and I'll be eternally grateful ~

I spend a lot of time out at sea with family and friends and it made me realise just how dependent we are on this life saving volunteer emergency service funded entirely by charity.
Having run the Great North Run to raise funds for the Abersoch station for the past two years, this year I've decided to do something different. I'll be swimming the Great North Swim for the RNLI in September... It's a mile in Lake Windemere!

The Isaiah Trust ~ http://www.isaiahtrust.org
A registered charity started in 2001 by two good friends Nicky and Tim.
The charity helps kids in Kenya orphaned by aids and surviving on their own on the streets in some of the most apalling conditions imaginable.
For the fourth year in a row, I'll again be running the Great Manchester Run this year for the trust on Sunday 16th May.

I'll try and keep you posted here on my training and fundraising progress along with a few distractions from my related hobbies... Why not leave a comment, if only to reassure me that I'm not talking to myself! ;-)
